Italian Design Icons installation at the Triennale
Triennale Design Museum – from 4 April 2014 to 22 February 2015
The Triennale Design Museum in Milan exhibits, in its CreativeSet hall, a new installation where many symbols of Italian design, belonging to the museum’s permanent collection, are grouped. Chairs, lamps, coffee tables, sofas, and coat stands are the pieces that form the “objects landscape” we all well know and – as Silvia Annichiarico says – represent “What is left. What resists time and modes, which goes beyond trends and schools, which stabilizes in perception and settle as a ‘ classic ‘ imaginary.”
Around the huge glass warehouse showcase, designed by Antonio Citterio, five “icons”, extracted from the case, are placed on the ground and displayed with particular evidence; they will be rotated every month, following a selection made by famous masters of design: Enzo Mari, Cini Boeri, Mario Bellini, Andrea Branzi, Nanda Vigo, Alessandro Mendini, Ugo La Pietra, Michele de Lucchi, Gaetano Pesce, and Antonio Citterio.
