“Worlds in Milan” exhibition at the MUDEC Museum

Mondi a Milano (Worlds in Milan) is, together with “Africa” the opening exhibition of the new MUDEC – Museum of Cultures, in Milan.
The exhibition, which can be somewhat considered a partial preview of the future museum galleries, to be opened in October 2015, presents how various non-European cultures have been, over time, incorporated into the city, and how Milan has been, in reverse, influenced by them.
The exhibition takes its cue from the late 19th-century industrial art shows, inspired by the Universal Fairs, and the decorative art exhibitions on which the renowned Triennials were based, thus establishing a connection with the upcoming EXPO Milan 2015.
Another interesting subject depicted is how non-European arts and cultures, especially North African and Chinese, have influenced the origins of modern Italian design, architecture, and fashion in the 20s and 30s.
