Tel Aviv Museum of Art

The Tel Aviv Museum of Art ( מוזיאון תל אביב לאמנות‎) is one of the most important art museums in Israel.
Established in 1932, the museum is located on the current site since 1971; an extension, the Herta and Paul Amir Building was completed in 2011 after a design by American architects Preston Scott Cohen and has soon become a city landmark. The museum complex also includes the Helena Rubinstein Pavilion for Contemporary Art, a separate venue at about a 10-minute walk from the main building.

The museum’s collections are composed of six main sections.  Modern and Contemporary art  includes several masterpieces by authors such as Monet, Renoir, Degas, Pissarro, Cézanne, Van Gogh, Matisse, Gauguin, Kandinsky, Klimt, Mondrian, Modigliani, Braque, Miró, Léger and Picasso.  Israeli art presents artworks by Israeli authors from the 1920s to the present day. Prints and Drawings houses over 25,000 pieces including a notable selection of German Expressionism works. Photography features photos by artists such as Cartier- Bresson, Robert Capa, and Wegee as well as by contemporary Israeli photographers. The collection of Architecture and Design is mainly dedicated to the most recent inter-disciplinary design expressions. Finally, Old Masters houses artworks, dating from the 16th to 18th centuries, by Italian, Flemish, and Dutch artists.

The museum includes also a conservation department, a library, an auditorium, a museum shop, and a fascinating outdoor gallery: the Lola Beer Ebner Sculpture Garden. The Tel Aviv Museum of Art organizes temporary exhibitions, guided tours, learning activities, special events, and music concerts.
