The Museo de las Ciencias (Science Museum in English, Museu de les Ciències in Valencian) in Valencia is one of the most popular science centers in Europe, also famous for its futuristic architecture.

Opened in 2010, the museum is part of the renowned  Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias (City of Arts and Sciences), a fascinating ensemble of architectures and water basins, designed by the Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava and located close to Valencia’s harbor.

The Museo de las Ciencias is, more than a traditional science museum, a large interactive experience focused on scientific subjects and particularly suited for kids, teens and families.

With a total exhibition space amounting to over 26,000 square meters and presenting models, artifacts, audiovisuals, multimedia installations and hands-on exhibits, the museum’s permanent exhibition showcases various topics: applied science, animals, climatic change, famous Spanish scientists, human genome, and space-flights; a 34 meter-high Foucault’s pendulum and a giant replica of a DNA molecule are also part of the exhibition.

The Museo de las Ciencias also offers temporary exhibitions, special events, guided tours, workshops, conferences, and learning programs, and includes an auditorium, a shop, a cafeteria, and a self-service restaurant. The museum building is fully accessible to people with disabilities.
