The Musée Cantini in Marseille is a museum of modern art housed in a late-17th century palace in the city center.
In 1916 the French sculptor Jules Cantini donated the palace, along with his personal collection, to the City of Marseille in order to create a new museum of art.
The Musée Cantini houses an important collection. mainly presenting art from the 1900s to the 1960s, that includes works by André Derain, Raoul Dufy, Amédée Ozenfant, Fernand Léger, Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Le Corbusier, Roberto Matta, Max Ernst, Joan Miró, Gutaï, Jean Arp, Balthus, Alberto Giacometti, Jean Dubuffet, Antonio Saura, Antoni Tàpies, Hans Hartung and Francis Bacon, among others.
The museum also has an interesting photography collection and organizes important temporary exhibitions.
