Bologna | MAMbo Museo d’Arte Moderna
The MAMbo (Museum of Modern Art of Bologna) – the museum in Bologna dedicated to modern and contemporary art – is located in a former large bakery building, the Forno del Pane.
The permament collection of the MAMbo mainly illustrates the history of recent Italian art but also included works from International artists. The comprehensive collection is exhibited in 9 thematic sections with works by Filippo De Pisis, Lucio Fontana, Mario Schifano, Emilio Isgrò, Maurizio Cattelan, Mimmo Paladino, Mario Merz, Antoni Tàpies, Graham Sutherland, Marina Abramović, Keith Haring, Gilbert & George and many others.
From November 2012, due to an earthquake, the MAMbo also temporarily houses the collection of the Morandi Museum.
The MAMbo also hosts temporary exhibition and special art projects.
At the museum an educational department, a library, a shop and a restaurant are available.
