Tokyo | New “Swell” installation by we+ captures wind and light
“Swell“, the latest installation designed by Japanese design studio we+, is a magic which captures wind and light.
We+’s installation depicts the movement of wind and light through nine textile nets which incorporate over 300,000 small rectangular mirrors.
The nine frames to which the textile nets are attached were installed in the Tokyo Midtown courtyard, an urban district in central Tokyo, for the “Tokyo Midtown DESIGN TOUCH 2018” event from October through November 2018.
Carefully positioned on a meadow, the light canvases “capture” even the smallest vibration in the environment, as well as the human presence, creating a dreamlike scenario.
