Until late July 2015, the Pavillon de L’Arsenal, Paris’ center for architecture, showcases a prototype of BAM System, a new construction system for self-sufficient modular buildings, developed by Biotopes Architecture & Design.

Exposed in the second-floor gallery, the 6-meter high, 11-meter long, prototype – which acronym means “Bâtiment Autonome Modulaire” (Autonomous Modular Building), exemplifies the possibilities of this unconventional building solution, which brings a digital manufacturing process, usually adopted by the industry, into architecture.

Alongside with the prototype, the team of Biotopes Architecture & Design also presents some of the potential applications of BAM system, such as a building expansion, and a detached house capable to evolve over time in accordance with the growth of the family inhabiting it.
