The ‘Handwerkmesse’ applied art exhibition – which will take place in Munich in March 2018 – is an event not to be missed by both professionals and design enthusiasts. The event will also host ‘Schmuck’, a refined, appreciated space focused on creations of contemporary jewelry. From the lively program of events that will animate the German city, we highlight the exhibition entitled “INFLUENCES.WHO ARE WE NOW? A journey through life. The influence of environment” at the B/E Gallery from 7 through 10 March, 2018.

Claudia Steiner – Vienna (Austria)
Brooch, Wallpieces 2017. 925 silver, resin, stainless steel.

At the exhibition, 12 artists – inspired by places, by landscapes, and by sensations aroused by the everyday environments in which people live and work – will present there their works of contemporary jewelry. The concept which underpins their works is that of “genius loci”; namely, that “spirit of place“ which originates from the interactions between people and a place which become special and unique to them, and to the artist as well, for its unique social, cultural, and architectural/urban characteristics. Thus, in such a place, space, color, scent, urban shape, architecture, sound, cultural and social environment, or climate all have the ability to inspire artistic expression, either consciously or not.
