Milan Design Week 2018 | From Gaudì to Tusquets. BD combines art with artisanry


Salvador Dali Leda chair

At the 2018 Milan Furniture Fair , Barcelona-based company BD presents a line of furniture and home accessories, named Art Editions (http://bdarteditions.com/), aimed to combine the forms conceived by modern and contemporary artists with the proverbial skills of Spanish artisans.

Pieces on show in Milan include interesting lamps, pieces of furniture and home accessories by Antoni Gaudí and Salvador Dalí, as well as the Shiva vase designed by Ettore Sottsass in 1973, and creations by acclaimed figures such as Jaime Hayon, Oscar Tusquets, and Lluís Clotet.

BD Barcelona Design is a Spanish brand founded in 1972, along with the Art Editions series, its catalog features pieces by some of the most important contemporary designers, including Alfredo Häberli, Jaime Hayon, Konstantin Grcic, Campana Brothers, Färg & Blanche, Joel Escalona, Ross Lovegrove, Doshi Levien, Alvaro Siza Vieira e Cristian Zuzunaga.
During its long existence, BD has been awarded the Spanish Premio Nacional de Diseño (1989), the European Community Design Prize (1990) and the Red Dot Design Award ‘best of the best’ in 2011.
