Florence: from March 2021 Palazzo Strozzi will host the great contemporary American art
From March 20th, 2021 Palazzo Strozzi will present ‘American Art 1961-2001‘, a major exhibition dedicated to American contemporary art.
Curated by Vincenzo de Bellis and Arturo Galansino, the event will be an unmissable opportunity to retrace forty years of history through works by Andy Warhol, Marc Rothko, Roy Lichtenstein, Bruce Nauman, Robert Mapplethorpe, Cindy Sherman, Matthew Barney, and Kara Walker, among others.
With an outstanding selection of more than 80 works by 55 American artists – including painting, photography, video, sculpture, and installations on loan from the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis – ‘American Art 1961-2001’ will present us the multifaceted American artistic production in relation to the transformations of society, defining the rich and complex American identity in the second half of the twentieth century.
