A multimedia corridor connects the buildings of Prague’s National Museum
Located in Wenceslas Square, the complex of the Czech Republic’s National Museum consists of two main buildings: the ‘Historical Building’ – a Renaissance-revival palace built between 1885 and 1891 and reopened in 2018 after major redevelopment works – and the modernist ‘New Building’, which mostly accommodates temporary exhibitions, workshops, and conferences.
Since November 2019, the two venues have been connected by a new underground passage featuring a permanent multimedia exhibition, entitled “Moments of History / The Time Corridor”.
Moments of History / The Time Corridor
The multimedia exhibition presents a time-lapse of the urban transformations of Wenceslas square during the 19th and 20th centuries, and highlights of the 20th-century history of Prague, starting from the birth of the Czechoslovak Republic in 1918.
Designed by Kolmo.eu, Loom on the Moon, and Pink Productions, the passage – a 56-meter-long raw-concrete corridor with the multimedia installation projected on its sidewalls by 38 laser projectors – delivers various functions at one time: it connects places, provides information, and organizes the flows of people within the National Museum’s site.
