“We should design starting from what must not be done and only at the end finding out what we should do”
Achille Castiglioni
How an artist could cope with the inspiration provided by the work of one of the greatest designers ever?
The exhibition The Rules of the Game invited 18 renowned international artists to confront themselves with the works, objects and architecture of the museum entitled to Achille Castiglioni, suggesting possible cross-links with the creative approach of Castiglioni.
The exhibition, organized by the Triennale di Milano in collaboration with the Museum Studio Achille Castiglioni, is curated by Luca Lo Pinto with the artistic direction of Edoardo Bonaspetti.
Almost all artworks have been conceived specifically for the occasion, the artists involved in the project, during the last months, have visited the museum so to grasp its peculiar atmosphere.
Therefore, the various works have been conceived to cope with an unconventional context and with the objects it houses, through subtle, somehow mimetic, interventions.
The exhibition, indeed, along with being an homage to Castiglioni, testifies the great influence that the work of the Italian designer today exerts on the new generation of artists, architects and designers.
The visitors are guided through the exhibition by the a staff member of the Castiglioni Foundation, who will illustrate both the project and the museum-studio, thus providing further interpretation levels and a customized narration.
