IT4Fashion – exhibition design in Florence by Studio Lauria

Inexhibit presents the installation conceived by the Italian practice Studio Lauria for the 2016 edition of IT4FASHION – an international, annual event dedicated to innovative and digital technologies in the fields of fashion and luxury – which took place at the “Manifattura Tabacchi“, a former tobacco factory in Florence.

The project sought to combine the languages of industrial architecture with the textures and evocative colors of fashion products. A ramp, clad with iron plates, burnished and slightly oxidized, led the visitors to the reception through a large entrance courtyard.

The exhibition encompassed a floor area of over 5,000 square meters (54.000 square feet) in the Manifattura Tabacchi. The factory, covering a site area of about 6 hectares, was built between 1933 and 1940, dismissed in 2000, and partially converted into a multipurpose venue thereafter, yet it still needs a proper and comprehensive plan of refurbishment and reuse.
